The Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) is committed to maintaining an ongoing dialogue with key members of the state legislature, Colorado’s congressional delegation and the Governor’s office. We support the creation, retention and recruitment of life sciences companies by promoting Colorado as a premier life sciences cluster.

2011 Legislative Victories

  • Passed - SB 159: Distribution of State Share of Limited Gaming Revenue
    Funding BDEGP at a slight decrease to $5.25M/yr
  • Passed - HB 1283: Extending the Bioscience Discovery Evaluation Grant Program
    (HB 08-1001) thru 2018 - grant funds increased by estimated $26M
  • Passed - SB 47: Colorado Science and Technology Innovation Reinvestment Act
    Industry tax withholdings estimated to generate $2M/yr starting 2013
  • Passed - HB 1045: Innovation Investment Tax Credit - reauthorized the program
  • Defeated - SB 43: Sharps Safe Disposal Manufacturer Plans

Advocacy Partnerships

CBSA works closely with national organizations AdvaMed, BIO, MDMA, PhRMA to advocate for shared policy objectives and to ensure that Colorado companies’ voices are heard by federal elected officials.

CBSA consistently is ranked as one of the states with the best advocacy initiatives – and success – by the Biotechnology Industry Organization when compared to all bioscience trade associations across the U.S.
