UNDER THE GOLD DOME – THE 71ST GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The 2018 Colorado Legislative session started this week and kicked off with several industry related health care bills. The CBSA team is already hard at work advocating on behalf of the industry and our members. So far, legislation has been introduced on Opioid Misuse Prevention, Diabetes Drug Pricing Transparency Act, Clinical Practice for Opioid Prescribing (7-day fill limit), and promotion of the off-label use of pharmaceutical products. Over the 120-day legislative session, we will keep you up to date on CBSA positions, progress of legislation, and requests for engagement with your legislator on important pieces of legislation.

On opening day Senate and House leadership discussed their 2018 priorities. On Thursday, we heard from Governor John Hickenlooper who kicked off the legislative session with the State of the State address. The governor addressed issues including: transportation, education, affordable housing, Colorado’s State Budget, rural community needs, workforce, and the outlook for 2018. Attend and Register for CBSA’s Day at the Capitol event on Wednesday, February 7th!

This yearly event is a great opportunity to bring life science innovators to the state Capitol to advocate for policy objectives critical for the state’s more than 720 bioscience companies and organizations.

Repealing the Medical Device Tax continues to be a priority for CBSA and our members. We have not let down advocating for the full repeal. Congress is set to pass legislation next week to meet the January 19 deadline to fund the federal government, and we are advocating to address the device tax in any package that comes together.
