Weekly Policy Update: November Recap

The November Focus newsletter was published this afternoon with Jennifer’s recap of the full month in policy news.

November Elections

At the federal level Republicans have retained control of the Senate with a gain of two seats to 53.

In the House Democrats took the majority with a total of 235 seats to the Republicans 200.

At the state level, Democrats secured both houses of congress as well as the governor’s seat. They also took all other statewide offices.

Detailed results of the leadership elections within the General Assembly are listed in the Focus policy post.

Propositions 110 and 109 were both defeated, as well as Amendment 73. Amendments Y & Z passed.

Health Fly-In

Jennifer met with the Colorado Delegation in Washington, DC this week. Principle topics discussed were Medicare Parts D and B (commonly known as the Medicare medical benefit).

State Bioscience Associations Annual Retreat

Following Washington, Jennifer traveled to Austin, TX for the State Bioscience Associations Annual Retreat.
